HAPPINESS

Merriam-Webster defines happiness as “a state of well-being and contentment.”

But it doesn’t have to be that complex.

You’ve felt it before.

Maybe it’s the feel of the wind in your hair.

Or the warmth of a sunset with their arms wrapped around you.

Happiness — That quiet elation you can’t quite name.

Maybe it’s letting your inner child loose at a party after a long, stressful day.

Or something as simple as a spoonful of ice cream and a slice of chocolate cake.

It’s the deep contentment of clicking “submit” just before the deadline.

Or the joy of receiving an acceptance email after countless rejections.

The rush of getting a promotion at work.

The soft glow of hearing “Well done” from your dad.

It might be a warm hug from a friend when you’re sad.

Or a birthday gift from someone who remembers the little things.

Or your mum cooking your favorite meal.

It could be someone telling you, with full sincerity, “I love you.”

You can’t always put a finger on it — but you know when it’s there.

You feel it. You breathe it in. You carry it quietly.

And most importantly:

Happiness is a choice.

A quiet “yes” to joy, no matter how small.

A decision to find light — even on cloudy days.
